Our History
Our journey began in the early 1990s when our founder, Vicente Navarrete Marinot, decided to collaborate with the local fishermen in the southern region of Chile. Together, they aimed to enhance the value of seaweed. Below, you’ll find some brief glimpses of our journey over the years.
1993
Gelymar commences its production process.
1997
Heterogeneous process plant opens.
1999
Alcohol refining process plant opens. Worldwide commercial expansion.
2000
Acknowledgment as the top Chilean industrial exporter by the trade association of the Chilean industrial sector, SOFOFA.
2004
Commercial offices and logistic centers in France, Mexico, China and Brazil.
2005
Inauguration of pilot plant & innovation center.
2007
Gely Gum's blends and systems are launched.
2010
New semi-refined carrageenan plant opens in southern Chile.
2013
Indonesia - opening of Kappa I semi-refined carrageenan plant JV.
2015
Pharma-Grade Alginates pilot plant opens.
