For over three decades, Gelymar has been dedicated to the sustainable harvesting and processing of seaweed, making this a cornerstone of our work. We take pride in being a leading company in the industry, thanks to our approach that combines environmental responsibility, innovation, and collaboration with local communities.

Sustainable Seaweed Harvesting

Our journey towards sustainability begins at sea, where we implement rigorous management plans for seaweed harvesting. These practices ensure that marine resources can naturally regenerate, guaranteeing their availability for the future. This commitment to the environment is achieved in partnership with authorities and researchers who help us constantly monitor and improve our processes.

Water and energy efficiency

At Gelymar, we don’t just focus on responsible harvesting; we also strive to optimize every stage of our production chain. One of our achievements is maintaining the lowest water footprint in the industry, thanks to efficient water use. We recycle wastewater to minimize freshwater consumption, reflecting our commitment to conserving this vital resource.

We use biomass to generate all the steam required for our processes, significantly reducing our net greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Additionally, we take steps to minimize energy consumption in our production through an Energy Management System (EMS) based on ISO50001.

Commitment to communities

Our commitment to sustainability extends beyond the environment to encompass a strong sense of social responsibility. We work hand-in-hand with local communities to foster their development. Furthermore, we are dedicated to providing our employees with a safe, stable, and enriching work environment where professional growth is a priority.

At Gelymar, we believe sustainability is an ongoing journey that demands constant innovation and an integrated approach across all our operations. We are committed to continuing our work with communities, authorities, and researchers to discover new ways to preserve natural resources and further enhance our positive impact on the planet.
